The Kill-a-Watt Electricity Usage Monitor
The Kill-A-Watt electricity usage monitor lets you plug in any device and see how much energy it is consuming. It is great for plugging an old refrigerator into to determine the exact cost savings of a newer energy-efficient model. Plug a power strip into it to see how much energy your computer and its peripherals are using, even when powered off or in “sleep” mode.
The LCD display shows your energy usage by kilowatt-hour. The longer a device stays plugged into the Kill-A-Watt, the more accurate your average usage stats will be - you can display them by the hour, day, month, week, or year. You can also find out the quality of the electricity coming to your outlet; the Kill-A-Watt will display real-time voltage, line frequency, and power factor readings.
